Employment summit continues to gain momentum

The Marlborough Employment Summit continues to gather momentum as a result of further meetings between myself and the Marlborough District Council.

We were delighted to have Andrew Coker at a meeting with the MDC and as a speaker at a gathering of community leaders. Andrew is the CEO of Priority One, a Bay of Plenty Economic Development Agency that has made strides in Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty.

Johan Du Plessis; facilitator of the employment summit meetings, Andrew Coker; CEO, Priority One, Tauranga and Colin.

It has always been our aim to gain wide support for a brainstorming session so as to identify future opportunities for economic growth and resulting employment.

There are a number of Ministers in Government that we need to be working with. The Minister of Defence, Minister of Treaty Settlements and the Minister of Economic Development will all be instrumental in helping this region take advantage of some great opportunities.

As a community we need to collaborate and approach our opportunities for growth and employment in an organised and structured manner otherwise we will achieve very little.
